It was supposed to be my first visit to the Edinburgh International Harp Festival this year, and I was so looking forward to giving a recital (including a duet with Eira Lynn Jones!) and teaching a course on ‘Contemporary Communication’. Thankfully the resourceful team at the EIHF (and a big shout out here in particular to Rachel Hair who collated everything so beautifully in such a short space of time!) decided to put on a Virtual EIHF instead. I recorded one of the pieces I was going to be playing in my recital – ‘Perlau yn y Glaw’ (or ‘Droplets in the Rain’) by the Welsh composer Mared Emlyn. You can watch my performance as part of the Monday evening virtual concert at this link here. There are also plenty of other fantastic concerts, online harp courses and resources up on the EIHF website here. Enjoy!
