On the 5th and 6th December, our newly formed contemporary quartet, The Hermes Experiment, will be giving their debut performances at The Rag Factory in East London.

This is the first run of the experiment! We’ll be performing a new work by up and coming composer William Cole, based on 13th and 14th century troubador song texts, as well as an exciting new arrangement of Piazzolla’s ‘Concert d’aujord’hui’, by our clarinettist Oliver Pashley.

As well as performing notated works like these, we’ll be performing live free improvisation – a real experiment! We’ve learnt a lot in getting to understand how we can make improvisation work, so that it’s entertaining and stimulating not only for us as performers, but also for an audience.

We have been working hard since the beginnings of this quartet over the summer to come up with a unique and creative concert experience, and we are hoping that this is just the beginning of a very long-running experiment!

It would be great to see you there!
